DESCRIPTION:RSVP by filling out the contact form to receive Sasaki’s cell so you can text him with issues. \nWaimano Tunnels Upper Loop Hike – 3 mile loop trail with tunnels with lush greenery & a stream. \n\nDifficulty: BEGINNER\nTime: 3-4 HOURS\nDistance: 6 MILES  (We will only do half of it)\n\nElevation Gain: 300 FEET\nFoot Traffic: MODERATE\nChallenges: Muddy and Flooded Tunnels\, Some narrow(ish) sections\nSights: The Tunnels\, Waimano Valley\nWhat to Bring: Water\, Flashlight\, Snack\n\nPARKING: On Street at the end of waimano home road.  Trail starts left of the fence.  Meet at the trail head. \nGee will be the lead (ie\, she will be in front of everyone) & I (Terry) will be the sweeper/follow (ie\, I will make sure that everyone is in front of me). You should make sure that you are between us\, hopefully with eyes on one of us at all times for safety. \nLet’s have a safe but enjoyable day together.   After the hike\, we will probably head over to some place to feed our hungry bellies. Brainstorm where at! : ) \nIF THE WEATHER IS BAD\, ASSUME THAT WE HAVE CANCELED THE EVENT. We can always do this on another day…the risk is not worth it. \nAnd as always\, although we make safety a priority\, by coming you are accepting that you are solely responsible for your own safety & should not do anything you shouldn’t esp if you have medical restrictions.

The area is prone to break-ins so be careful. Park at your own risk \nWe will meet in trail entrance (corner of tantalus road + telephone road)\nWe will walk from KALAWAHINE trail to PAUOA FLATS trail and will be back the same way we entered. \nhttps://alohawithlove.com/tantalus-drive-pauoa-flats-oahu-hikes-hawaii-travel-things-to-do-in-hawaii/ \nAbout 2.5 to 3 miles out and back and takes about 2 to 3 hours. Pauoa flats has makiki valley view at the end.\nMostly it is flat trail with few inclined places in between.  Good shoes are always recommended as the trail can be muddy and slippery if it rains.  Sun & bug protection is recommended. \nGee will be the lead (ie\, she will be in front of everyone) & I (Terry) will be the sweeper/follow (ie\, I will make sure that everyone is in front of me). SUMMARY:Independence Day - FREE Rail Transit tour of Island & Potluck Pool BBQ
DESCRIPTION:We will be taking a FREE tour of the island using the new Rail System on Independence Day\, Tuesday July 4th which is a Federal Holiday. \nUnfortunately\, there will be NO fireworks but we can still have BBQ. \nAs long as you have a HOLO card\, you can ride for free (your card won’t be charged). \nThe rail starts at the Halawa Station near Aloha Stadium (https://honolulutransit.org/halawa/) & ends at the Kualakai Station in East Kapolei (https://honolulutransit.org/kualakai/) which is apparently a 21 minute ride. \nPLEASE COME BY 3:45 BECAUSE WE WILL LEAVE ON THE FIRST TRAIN AT 4 OR LATER. OTHERWISE WE WILL BE LATE TO THE BBQ. \nMeeting at the Halawai Station @4pm\, we will ride the train there & back & then\, if you want\, we can come to a pool/jacuzzi deck near Ala Moana Center with something to share & BBQ/grill as we enjoy watching the fireworks  (we figure that will start about 6:30pm w/fireworks at 8pm or so). SUMMARY:Aiea Loop Trail Hike
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a casual hike on the Aiea Loop Trail. FREE \nhttps://www.alltrails.com/trail/hawaii/oahu/aiea-loop-trail \nThis is a 5 mile hike that is mostly flat with several areas to take water break rests. With scenic views such as of H3\, it will take at least 3 hours to complete the hike. \nPlease bring sun protection like a hat/cap/sunscreen/etc\, at least 2 liters of water per person\, good footwear\, snacks\, & clothing for bad weather just in case. \nPlease carpool if possible (you can contact us in advance so we can coordinate) as parking is in high demand so coming by 8:30 is almost required.\nWE WILL MEET AT THE TOP OF THE TRAIL.\nDepending on the fitness level of attendees\, we may have two groups one fast paced & the other slower. \nGee will be the lead (ie\, she will be in front of everyone) & I (Terry) will be the sweeper/follow (ie\, I will make sure that everyone is in front of me). You should make sure that you are between us\, hopefully with eyes on one of us at all times for safety. \nLet’s have a safe but enjoyable Sunday together. \nWe will probably head over to some place to feed our hungry bellies after the hike. Brainstorm where at! : ) \nIF THE WEATHER IS BAD\, ASSUME THAT WE HAVE CANCELED THE EVENT. We can always do this on another day…the risk is not worth it. \nAnd as always\, although we make safety a priority\, by coming you are accepting that you are solely responsible for your own safety & should not do anything you shouldn’t esp if you have medical restrictions.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for another Karaoke Potluck Pool Party.  5 hours of karaoke & eating…&/or take a dip in the pool or jacuzzi/hot tub. \nBYOB (bring your own beverages).  Each person should bring $5 AND a main dish/entree to share (which should be >$10 & >8 servings). SUMMARY:Likeke Falls & Old Pali Hike
DESCRIPTION:Our Hiking Guide Gee is taking us on another scenic adventure.\nOld Pali road to Pali lookout and Likeke falls hike \nParking – koolau golf course $10/vehicle (so perhaps passengers can chip in to pay for the driver of the carpool).\nYou can park outside the main gate in the street for free but parking is very limited so come early if you plan to park in the street. You will get ticket if you don’t park within the white marker lines in the street.\nCarpool as much as possible \nWe will meet at 8 am in koolau golf course parking lot and start the hike at 8.30 am to the likeke falls. \nWe’ll come back to the parking and take the 2nd trail to hike the old Pali road to the lookout. We will finish the hike in the koolau golf course parking lot. \n3.5 hours and total 5 miles approximately in and out of the trails. \nOptional – we can have lunch in windward city plaza after the hike \nBring lots of water and wear proper shoes. Bring snacks just in case if you get hungry in the middle of the hike. No shade in the 2nd long trail. Bring sunscreen\, cap and other necessary items \nWith the water constantly collecting in the high Ko’olau mountain range\, you find beautiful waterfalls scattered throughout\, including Likeke Falls.\nThere is patches of beautiful ginger along the trail.\nAlso enjoy a couple jungle windowed views of the Pali and Ko’olau Mountains above. We may be able to see a pronounced hole in the mountain-side rock at the top with daylight coming through it\, located off the Pali Puka Hiking Trail.\nExpect it to be muddy with lots of tree roots and rocks that cover the ground.\nLikeke Falls is a stunning\, two-tiered waterfall\, cascading ~20′\, that sits below the Pali Lookout \nAs always\, although we will always do our very best to make safety a priority\, you are solely responsible for your own safety & should not do anything you shouldn’t do\, esp if you have medical restrictions/conditions.

It is a steady incline with Manoa valley and mountain view. \nThe path winds through a shaded lush forest for most of the hike. Exotic flowers and large trees with huge leaves makes it a wonderful\, family-friendly hike that’s on the easy side. Lots of roots. At the top\, the valley view is beautiful. A easier hike with mountain and valley views at the top. \nGood shoes are required. Rain can make the trail very slippery. Be prepared for rainy weather. \nParking – park in the intersection of Alani Dr and Woodlawn Dr in Manoa” \nWe usually eat lunch afterwards. \nWhile we always take safety seriously\, you are solely responsible for your own safety & should not do anything that you shouldn’t do\, esp if you have limitations like medical conditions.  \nSee all our many events here.

SUMMARY:Shore Walk Excursion by Lanai Lookout
DESCRIPTION:FREE event.  Come join us for a beautiful hike/walk along the SouthEast shore of Oahu. \nWe will meet at the first lookout along Kalanianaole Highway in Hawaii Kai where you can park (it comes right after you pass the gun shooting range) & is called Lanai Lookout.  Please car pool as much as possible due to the tourist crowds & limited parking. \nPer our guide Gomathi/Gee: “We will be hiking the beautiful south west shore for 1 mile and will be walking in the street while coming back to the cars. We might be climbing lava rocks a little but really not that bad. It’s more like a walk than hike except for few places that require short climbs\nGood shoes are necessary. Flip flops or slippers might be dangerous. In few places\, we might get the feet wet (happened once in 20 times for me).\n\nBring lots of water as there is no shade in this trail.”\n\nWhile we always take safety seriously\, you are solely responsible for your own safety & should not do anything that you shouldn’t do\, esp if you have limitations.  Be sure to fill out our contact form so that we know you are coming & you can receive Sasaki’s cell to communicate.

SUMMARY:Karaoke Potluck Pool Party
DESCRIPTION:Join us for another Karaoke Potluck Pool Party.  5 hours of karaoke & eating…&/or take a dip in the pool or jacuzzi/hot tub. \nBYOB (bring your own beverages).  Each person should bring $5 AND a main dish/entree to share (which should be >$10 & >8 servings). OR you can bring $15/person. \nThe $5 is to defray/subsidize costs of the karaoke machine/mics\, the plates/utensils/sundries/etc\, & buy a small gift for the person who lets us use the place.  You can always give more.  And if you can’t afford it\, please contact Sasaki well in advance so we can arrange something (eg\, you could help setup & clean up). \nPark at Ala Moana or on the street.  Please fill out the contact form to stay informed w/updates & receive Sasaki’s cell number/email. \nLast time we sang English\, Japanese\, Chinese\, Korean\, & Hawaiian songs.  : )   We have folks who are as young as kids to as old as seniors.  Our only goal is fun. \nSearch YouTube to prepare your list (eg\, if you want to sing the male/lower key version of Adele’s songs).  Someone also suggested an open mic/talent show…so if you want to do spoken word\, or standup\, or play something\, we would welcome you.
