SUMMARY:Hike/Walk Makapu'u Lighthouse Trail
DESCRIPTION:Makapu’u lighthouse trail – very short and easy. Since whales are still lurking in the ocean\, this will be a good time to do whale watching during the hike. Well paved trail. It’s just like a short walk up the road to the lighthouse \nWe can also go the beach for sometime after this hike. Beach trail is also very short and flat all the way. We can stop by Koko Marina plaza for lunch before returning home   FREE event. \nMeeting point – 9 am at the trail entrance \nGee will be the lead (ie\, she will be in front of everyone) & I (Terry) will be the sweeper/follow (ie\, I will make sure that everyone is in front of me). You should make sure that you are between us\, hopefully with eyes on one of us at all times for safety. \nLet’s have a safe but enjoyable day together. After the hike\, we will probably head over to some place to feed our hungry bellies. Brainstorm where at! : ) \nIF THE WEATHER IS BAD\, ASSUME THAT WE HAVE CANCELED THE EVENT. We can always do this on another day…the risk is not worth it. \nAnd as always\, although we make safety a priority\, by coming you are accepting that you are solely responsible for your own safety & should not do anything you shouldn’t esp if you have medical restrictions.

DESCRIPTION:The Kawaii Kon is an annual 3 day celebration of Japanese culture\, anime\, and pop-culture held in Honolulu\, Hawaii.\nKawaii Kon will be March 29 – 31\, 2024 at Hawaii Convention Center\, 1801 Kalakaua Avenue\, Honolulu\, HI 96815\nhttps://kawaiikon.com/information/about-us/\nAttendance was 13\,076 in 2019 & 20\,489 in 2023.\nDue to no Covid issues\, the attendance is expected to be ~25\,000 this year. \nThere are many different events & pricing varies https://kawaiikon.com/registration/attendees/pre-registration-information/    We highly recommend pre-registration versus buying passes at the door.\n \nOur own Terry Sasaki will be a guest GM at the convention running several different RPG games such as: Savage Worlds or SWADE (Deadlands\, Pathfinder\, & Holler)\, Call of Cthulhu\, Cyberpunk Red\, Witcher\, Lord of the Rings 5e\, PenDragon\, RuneQuest\, etc.  \nThese are all FREE to participate with the price of admission.  There will be PRIZES such as to keep the game after the session or vouchers.

SUMMARY:Moanalua Valley Hike Trail (the easy flat one)
DESCRIPTION:You may do a simple google search & find that the Moanalua Valley Hike Trail is HARD. \nHowever\, we are NOT doing that one\, NOR the one that goes up Haiku Stair(way to Heaven). \nWe are going to go on the flat short hike. \nGee says: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMoanalua valley hike – We will only go 2 miles in and return which sums up to 4 miles total in this flat trail.\nNo view but there are some hawaiian ruins and if lucky we will try to find the petroglyphs.\nThere might be water running in the streams – if so\,  we will be crossing at least 10 to 15 streams. There is an alternative dry path to go around the streams without getting the feet wet. I will take the dry route if water is present.Meeting point – entrance of moanalua valley neighborhood park by the children play area.\nParking – this park doesn’t allow hikers to park inside. Park outside in the street. Carpool as much as possible\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGee will be the lead (ie\, she will be in front of everyone) & I (Terry) will be the sweeper/follow (ie\, I will make sure that everyone is in front of me). SUMMARY:Kaena Point Hike - New Meeting Location due to high waves
DESCRIPTION:Come join SMASH for another amazing hike up to Kaena Point Hike with the awesome views.  \nLast time we tried on Jan 21st\, they closed the entire road & didn’t allow anyone in so we ended up going to Pink Pillbox.  It was awesome.  Then we ate at El Ranchero in Kapolei.  We had a great time but want to do Kaena Point again.  However\, we had to change the meeting location due to high waves closing the west side entrance.\n \nRSVP by filling out the contact form to receive Sasaki’s cell so you can text him with issues. \n\nKaena point hike – flat 5 miles in and out trail at the end of waianae. No shade on the entire trail so bring sun screen\, caps\, lots of water etc.  It is open coastline throughout and interested people can take a dip in the ocean in the end. If monk seals are present – rangers will not allow people in the water\n\nParking is very limited so car pooling is recommended. No designated parking spots here. Park wherever legally possible in the side of the road\n\nIt will take 3 to 4 hrs to complete the hike. After the hike we can stop by few restaurants in waianae for lunch\n\nNEW Meeting point SEE NEW LOCATION ON THE MOKULEIA SIDE;  Do NOT go to the WAIANAE side. We will start the hike and finish by going back to the Mokuleia side.\n\n\nGee will be the lead (ie\, she will be in front of everyone) & I (Terry) will be the sweeper/follow (ie\, I will make sure that everyone is in front of me). SUMMARY:Kawainui Wildlife Sanctuary Hiking Trail
DESCRIPTION:Come join SMASH for another amazing hike through the largest wetlands in Hawaii.  \nRSVP by filling out the contact form to receive Sasaki’s cell so you can text him with issues. \nThis is a scenic 3 mile in and out nature trail and most of the trail is paved and flat. Shoes are recommended but not needed / necessary if you like to opt out. No shade in any portion of the trail. It will be hot so bring water\, sunscreen\, cap\, sunglasses etc. We can have lunch / brunch in restaurants in Kailua after hike.  \nWe will park in the public parking at this trail head (It is like a park there) and meet at 8.30 am in the parking lot.  \nhttps://dlnr.hawaii.gov/wildlife/sanctuaries/kawainui/ \nThe above website even provides a virtual tour by Google Earth.  \nGee will be the lead (ie\, she will be in front of everyone) & I (Terry) will be the sweeper/follow (ie\, I will make sure that everyone is in front of me). You should make sure that you are between us\, hopefully with eyes on one of us at all times for safety. \nLet’s have a safe but enjoyable day together. After the hike\, we will probably head over to some place to feed our hungry bellies. Brainstorm where at! : ) \nIF THE WEATHER IS BAD\, ASSUME THAT WE HAVE CANCELED THE EVENT. We can always do this on another day…the risk is not worth it. \nAnd as always\, although we make safety a priority\, by coming you are accepting that you are solely responsible for your own safety & should not do anything you shouldn’t esp if you have medical restrictions.

DESCRIPTION:RSVP by filling out the contact form to receive Sasaki’s cell so you can text him with issues. \nWaimano Tunnels Upper Loop Hike – 3 mile loop trail with tunnels with lush greenery & a stream. \n\nDifficulty: BEGINNER\nTime: 3-4 HOURS\nDistance: 6 MILES  (We will only do half of it)\n\nElevation Gain: 300 FEET\nFoot Traffic: MODERATE\nChallenges: Muddy and Flooded Tunnels\, Some narrow(ish) sections\nSights: The Tunnels\, Waimano Valley\nWhat to Bring: Water\, Flashlight\, Snack\n\nPARKING: On Street at the end of waimano home road.  Trail starts left of the fence.  Meet at the trail head. \nGee will be the lead (ie\, she will be in front of everyone) & I (Terry) will be the sweeper/follow (ie\, I will make sure that everyone is in front of me). You should make sure that you are between us\, hopefully with eyes on one of us at all times for safety. \nLet’s have a safe but enjoyable day together.   After the hike\, we will probably head over to some place to feed our hungry bellies. Brainstorm where at! : ) \nIF THE WEATHER IS BAD\, ASSUME THAT WE HAVE CANCELED THE EVENT. We can always do this on another day…the risk is not worth it. \nAnd as always\, although we make safety a priority\, by coming you are accepting that you are solely responsible for your own safety & should not do anything you shouldn’t esp if you have medical restrictions.

The area is prone to break-ins so be careful. Park at your own risk \nWe will meet in trail entrance (corner of tantalus road + telephone road)\nWe will walk from KALAWAHINE trail to PAUOA FLATS trail and will be back the same way we entered. \nhttps://alohawithlove.com/tantalus-drive-pauoa-flats-oahu-hikes-hawaii-travel-things-to-do-in-hawaii/ \nAbout 2.5 to 3 miles out and back and takes about 2 to 3 hours.
