Kawainui Wildlife Sanctuary Hiking Trail

Come join SMASH for another amazing hike through the largest wetlands in Hawaii.

This is a scenic 3 mile in and out nature trail and most of the trail is paved and flat. Shoes are recommended but not needed / necessary if you like to opt out. No shade in any portion of the trail. It will be hot so bring water, sunscreen, cap, sunglasses etc. We can have lunch / brunch in restaurants in Kailua after hike.

We will park in the public parking at this trail head (It is like a park there) and meet at 8.30 am in the parking lot.

Gee will be the lead (ie, she will be in front of everyone) & I (Terry) will be the sweeper/follow (ie, I will make sure that everyone is in front of me). You should make sure that you are between us, hopefully with eyes on one of us at all times for safety.

Let’s have a safe but enjoyable day together. After the hike, we will probably head over to some place to feed our hungry bellies. Brainstorm where at! : )

IF THE WEATHER IS BAD, ASSUME THAT WE HAVE CANCELED THE EVENT. We can always do this on another day…the risk is not worth it.
