    Karaoke Potluck Pool Party – September Edition

    Join us for another Karaoke Potluck Pool Party. 5 hours of karaoke & eating…&/or take a dip in the pool or jacuzzi/hot tub.  Singing &/or swimming is optional.  Some just come to mingle. BYOB (bring your own beverages).  Each person should bring $5 AND a main dish/entree to share (which should be >$10 & >8 servings; NOT snacks). OR you can bring $15/person. The $5 is to defray/subsidize costs of the karaoke machine/mics, the plates/utensils/sundries/etc, deposit for the room, YouTube Premium, & to buy a small gift for the person who lets us use the place.  You can always give more.  And if you can’t afford it, please contact Sasaki well in advance so we can arrange something (eg, you could help setup & clean up).     For the very first time in over two years, we had to cancel our hike on August 25th due to high winds.  So we are going to make another attempt. "The Hanauma Bay Ridge trail is an easy, but long uphill hike on a paved asphalt road to the Hanauma Bay rock. The trail begins just West of the parking lot for Hanuama Bay. Follow the walkway to the top of the ridge. You can continue down the dirt trail if you feel like being adventurous (There is a secret beach and even a hidden rock bridge). Once you climb down you are able to explore any of the areas around the rock. This is a great vantage point of Aina Haina, Hawaii Kai and Hanauma bay. " Good shoes is a must. Bring lots of water.   Sun protection is always impt, esp on this hike with no shade. Nawiliwili St Parking is limited so try to carpool.     This is a cross-over event with InterNations (Anna & Lucien organizers).  Free, family-friendly evening of art and music at HiSAM (Hawaii State Art Museum)/Capitol Modern. Hawaii State Art Museum is an excellent museum which is FREE admission (https://hisam.hawaii.gov/exhibits/). The Lēʻahi Gallery and Sculpture Garden will be open. Come visit and enjoy performances in the garden. The performances vary but usually there is live music & dancing for visitors. Admission is free and all ages are welcome.

    Join us for a casual hike on the Aiea Loop Trail. FREE https://www.alltrails.com/trail/hawaii/oahu/aiea-loop-trail This is a 5 mile hike that is mostly flat with several areas to take water break rests. With scenic views such as of H3, it will take at least 3 hours to complete the hike. Please bring sun protection like a hat/cap/sunscreen/etc, at least 2 liters of water per person, good footwear, snacks, & clothing for bad weather just in case. Please carpool if possible (you can contact us in advance so we can coordinate) as parking is in high demand so coming by 8:30 is almost required. WE WILL MEET AT THE TOP OF THE TRAIL. Depending on the fitness level of attendees, we may have two groups one fast paced & the other slower. Matt will be the lead (ie, he will be in front of everyone) & I (Terry) will be the sweeper/follow (ie, I will make sure that everyone is in front of me).
